BiographY

The SBMSO was born on a stormy evening, November 11, 2018, in response to a commission from the town hall of the small town of Ingrandes sur Loire… and from the artistic desire of singer Linda Gonin and saxophonist Toups Bebey to go beyond the primary purpose of the commission: the “few small notes” of the charter will be present, but surrounded by all those that truly correspond to the challenge of the commemoration.
Marked by the discovery of this emblematic composer, arranger, and conductor in the name of Europe, predestined, aka the “King of Jazz.” Marked by the revelation that this music symbolized the excellence of popular music; a great requirement that naturally takes the background of the relationship to the dancefloor, without straying for a moment. Remaining faithful to the spirit of the double
vision of Lieutenant James Europe *, everything is there: the axis towards the future is only valid with a good knowledge of the past. Europe insisting on the past, claiming the Africanness of its music.

The dream team: 4 wind instruments and percussion.
Let's start with vocals, since it's all about vibrations. Linda Gonin, whose crystal-clear soprano voice leaves no one indifferent, can start
tap dancing without warning.
Using the sousaphone as a wind bass rather than a double bass refers to the period when ragtime, foxtrot, one-step, etc.,
all came together under the banner of jazz. Multi-instrumentalist Yvonnick Fleury transforms his enthusiasm into an impetuous groove.
It was the drums that chose Jabs to help develop their polyrhythm in pursuit of their deep identity, their musical DNA also having roots
in Côte d'Ivoire.
Fela Kuti said of saxophones that they were the government's spokespeople... Éric Pailhé has practiced meeting and listening to others in Asia, Russia
, and North America. His mastery of 20th century classical music (jazz) does not prevent him from seeking surprises; on baritone, tenor or
metal clarinet. As for Toups Bebey, it is with the help of the tenor and the alto that he wants to finish the work started with the album African Bicyclette (which took him to the
St Louis Jazz festival) and also Pygmy Attidudes which made a bridge of rhizomes between the mother continent and the Caribbean
